New Democrats to change name to Democrats

All that is old is new again.

The NDP is now just the DP. Wow- that just about writes itself, doesn't it.

What is next for Jack Layton? Black face?

At lunch today, we argued whether or not Democrats in the US equals Liberal or NDP in Canada. I think the answer is both, but neither.

Denis Kucinich is not a liberal. He is a socialist. I love him to bits - but he is a socialist. Let's compare some others:

1) Tommy Douglas - rural, social conservative- he would be a republican.
2) Ed Broadbent - union town to downtown - sounds like a new Blue Reagen to me
3) Sven Robinson - commits crimes - sounds like a Senator from Idaho
4) Bob Rae - switches parties - sounds like Spectre.

I think my point is clear - the cube of politics is alive and well - and any given DP member could be a Democrat or Republican depending on where they live - and where they could get elected.
