How Slander works

Part of defamation of character is that the person has to have a character to defame -

"Oh no, good sir, we would draw the line at selling tobacco to minors - murder, extortion, drugs - all fine- but selling cigarettes to teenagers? That is outside of our comfort zone."

Hell's Angels comment could be slanderous - Section: News

To the Editor:

Re: 'Health unit looks to extinguish area contraband tobacco sales', (May 27).

In regards to the comments made by Mayor Peter Delanty about the Hell's Angels involved in cigarette smuggling from Alderville: a public official that makes these statements without supportive proof is indeed lining up for slander. I do not support any of this conduct nor his comments.

Blog-eaaaargh - U.K.-ameron

I haven't posted in weeks because I am a busy fool. I did, want to make a comment about the British Election outcome

Assuming this coalition can last a few years, suddenly both Mr. Cameron and Mr. Clegg are in the history books forever. A workable coalition, if sustained, would be unprecedented in this era/age in the United Kingdom.

I have some logistical questions - like "how will Clegg possibly be able to run in the next election against the government which he is a part of?"

or

"how will the Liberal Democrats oppose a government in the House of Commons which they are a part of?"

or

"will this temper the Tory Party, and re-invent them as a centre-right party as opposed to the old Tory Blue?"

or

"Is anyone in the Langevin BLDG paying attention?"
